Meeting with the Hon’ble India Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. Om Birla
Today, the Director of Crown Portugal, Mr. D. S. Saini, had the honour of meeting with the Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. Om Birla, and His Excellency Mr. Puneet R. Kundal, Ambassador of India to Portugal. Also present were the President of Raghda Krishna Mandir Portugal, Dr. Manuel Mulji, and Vice President Mr. Harun Carsane.
During the meeting, Mr. Saini highlighted the significant issues faced by the Indian community in Portugal, particularly the challenges involving voluntary departure notices and the high rate of application rejections by AIMA (the Portuguese Immigration Authority).
Faced with meeting points
During the meeting, Mr. Saini raised serious concerns about the difficulties faced by our community in Portugal, especially:
- Voluntary departure notices are being issued unfairly
- High rejection rate of immigration applications by AIMA Portugal
He strongly requested urgent action, better transparency, and Embassy support to protect the rights of immigrants and workers.

TMr. Saini called for urgent attention and intervention to improve transparency, fairness, and protection mechanisms for immigrants in Portugal.
He also acknowledged the continuous support of the Indian Embassy and expressed hope for stronger cooperation to safeguard the rights of immigrants and foreign workers. Also raised key questions about implementing digital and multilingual tools in real-time to improve service accessibility.
