D-7 VISA INFORMATION (NHR)

STEP-3 Recommendation (non-obligation)

STEP-4 Book an appointment
Book an appointment with the Portuguese consulate at your home or resident country to submit your D-7 visa application.
STEP-5 Visa application submission & interview

STEP-6 Application transfer to SEF
The Portuguese consulate transfers your visa application to the competent authority, SEF, in Portugal for the final decision on your visa application.
STEP-7 Visa decision made by SEF
Final visa decision made by (AIMA, Portuguese immigration authority, delivered to the consulate at your home or resident country, the consulate will grant you a visa or judgment under general terms in article 58.

STEP-8 Travel & report to SEF for biometric
Applicant is obligated to report Portugal immigration authority within the validity of the visa for the biometrics (Fingerprint).

STEP-9 Collect of residence card
The residence card will be delivered to your Portuguese home address by post & the validity of the card is two years from the date of issue & further extendable for the next three years.
STEP-10 Family reunification application
Once the primary applicant acquired a Portuguese residency permit as a retiree, the right to call family members under family reunification under general terms in article 98.
